Coarse Correction
Trump’s brutal reckoning.
Not my kids obviously. Mine were always perfectly well behaved, polite and impeccably mannered. Of course they were. And probably not yours either.
But other people’s kids. You know the ones. Foot stamping little monsters. Junior dictators. Cry baby tyrants. Angry and demanding, freaking out in the supermarket aisle, rag dolling in tear stained fury because Mum refuses to buy them Frosties.
Swap ‘Mum’ for the US electorate, ‘Frosties’ for Kamala Harris, and the insufferable child for the insufferable class of elite bossy boots scolds who backed her doomed presidential bid, and you’ve pretty much got an accurate portrait of what has been happening in America since the 45th President of the United States was inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States. And immediately started, uniquely for any politician I can remember, doing the things in office that he promised he’d do on the campaign trail.
Blue America hasn’t displayed such an outpouring of querulous sanctimony, self righteous anger and performative, narcissistic chest beating since,….since, well, the last time Trump won in 2016. And then after that, when he didn’t win in 2020, but said he did. And then again on election night in 2024, when they realised that he had somehow, unfathomably, unacceptably beaten them for a second time.
So actually, yes, the cry baby liberals are always at it. Especially of course, when they don’t get their own way. And the good news is, right now, they’re not getting their own way quite a lot.
The outpouring of emotion has been spectacular. We’ve seen more tears than at a funeral in an onion factory.
From Selena Gomez (who I love in Only Murders in the Building btw) breaking down in a tsunami of sanctimonious sobbing at the very idea of violent rapists, criminals and gangsters ‘children’ being deported from US soil. To Senator Elizabeth Warren, somehow channeling her fake Native American ancestry to go full Tonto on RFK at his confirmation hearing.
They simply cannot cope.
Of course Selena is not really shedding her salty tears for the perceived victims of Trump’s latest beastliness. Her compassion is directed inward. It is the self indulgent weeping of the entitled, sermonising celebrity.
Equally, Warren’s outburst is the performative pique of the narcissist politician. A haughty, priggish member of the ruling class who flies into a fit of rage if they do not get what they want. Every time. All the time.
Unable to blame themselves for their loss,-Kamala mounted a ‘flawless’ campaign after all- the Democratic elites look outside, to malign, unnatural forces to explain their defeat.
Like a primitive culture eager to blame a flood, famine, or earthquake on the vengeful malice of an angry spirit.
So now they decry the influence of ‘oligarchs’, especially in the form of sieg heilling rocket man Elon Musk. Accusing him of somehow corrupting the election with his greedy billions and nasty app.
Ignoring the fact that the Democrats have had Facebook, and the rest, in their progressive pocket for years. And outspent Trump more than two to one in 2024 (Different sources give different figures. But this feels a fair assessment to me), with rich donors, trough feeders, and onanistic celebs, lining up to shovel literally billions of dollars down Kamala Harris cackling craw until her campaign choked on it.
Or else they continue to dismiss the 77 million Americans who voted for Trump as fascists, racists, or bible clutching, gun totting goons. Little more than slavering beasts, easily swayed by the Hitleresque ranting of an angry, orange faced, demagogue.
The ruling elite emeritus seems genuinely unable to grasp how even such a ‘low information’ electorate could be persuaded to vote for a ‘convicted felon’, a tyrant who promised a ‘dictatorship on Day One’, and a ‘bloodbath,’ unless he was elected.
It’s all so tiring. So bone achingly tedious. Over the last four years their homeopathic hatred became so diluted it lost all potency, until voters in America, and spectators across the world, eventually stopped listening to their shrill, performative mewling.
I watched, by accident, a TV report about the new administration’s funding freeze for government DEI programmes, and noticed how the BBC (obvs) is continuing to claim that Trump is dismantling these programmes simply because ‘it plays well with his base’.
Ignoring the fact that he was elected, if not in a landslide, then by at least a fairly sizeable majority, even winning the popular vote, on exactly this platform. Trump’s anti DEI policies are not appealing to some tiny ‘base’ of far-right, goose stepping, Guardian eschewing loons.
They are appealing to America. Because America, yes, pretty much all of it, is sick of this crap.
And yes. Trump did win bigly. Soz but he did. He won all seven swing states for a start. Just look at a map.
Still, it’s fun to learn from the BBC (double obvs) how in reality, he hardly squeaked in, barely pipped it. In fact not only did he do a lot worse than ‘sharp as a tack’ Biden in 2020, he was even beaten by Hillary in 2016. That’s if you count the votes in a completely different way to how the votes are actually counted.
The BBC, like every liberal institution the world over, refuses to take Trump’s victory at face value.
No wonder no one is watching.
But Trump won not because of oligarchs, Russian collusion, misinformation, a bias and broken electoral college system, or an electorate chock full of bigots, gulls and fools. He won because he got more votes than the other candidate.
Which means he was de facto, the better candidate.
(Sorry liberals, but if that annoyed you, you might want to sit down for this next bit. It’s going to get a lot worse.)
And he won, not because he is an extremist. But because the average American voter has simply had enough of progressive nonsense, and turned their back on extremism.
Because make no mistake.
Sending children who have ‘been born into the wrong body’ to have their genitals removed because you believe in the quasi-religious nonsense of a ‘gendered soul’, is extremist.
Opening your borders to millions upon millions of unvetted foreign nationals, many of them criminals, rapists and murderers, and then condemning any who complain as ‘racist’, is extremist.
Attempting to destroy your own economy in service of a ‘Green New Deal’, an anti human agenda which is guaranteed to impoverish your people, wreck every small business, and hand global hegemony to China, is extremist.
Employing people to work on critical infrastructure, or in fact in any position, based on skin colour, disability or their weird and wonky sexuality, rather than their qualifications, or ability to do the actual job, is extremist.
Teaching a generation of schoolchildren that the history of their country, and the entirety of Western Civilisation, demonstrably the most tolerant, productive and awe inspiring chapter, so far, of humanity’s great story, has been little more than a venal exercise in rapacious pillage, colonialism, and slavery, is extremist.
Shutting down your entire country, (not you Gavin, you carry on quaffing it up at the French Laundry) to ‘defend’ against a virus with a 99% survival rate, making children, who you knew were not at risk, wear paper masks for two years, while injecting them with pointless, potentially dangerous drugs, is extremist.
Demanding the world celebrates, as grown men, dressed as saloon bar whores, read fairy stories to confused children, and then twerk, balls out, in their faces, for an entire month, is extremist.
Teaching little black children that little white children are their enemy. And telling little white children that they must pay penance for sins their ancestors didn’t remotely commit, two hundred or more years before they were born, is extremist.
Attempting to lock up your political rivals on specious charges, which somehow conjure a felony conviction from a local misdemeanour, is extremist.
Announcing that raping and killing Jewish women, and burning Jewish babies in ovens is entirely justified because ‘that’s what decolonisation means’, is extremist.
And preemptively pardoning your entire family, for any crime ever, while extending the same privilege to a man who allegedly, not only unleashed the worst pandemic the world has seen in a hundred years, but then conspired to cover up that fact, are both extremist.
Now the big shots of the same ruling globalist liberal class which pushed these extreme policies on the West’s reluctant populations, are bleating like spoilt children because voters in America (and the world over) are finally pushing back.
Claiming that by signing 100 executive orders in his first days in office, purging DEI from government institutions, banning sex change ‘treatment’ for minors, and closing the borders to illegal immigrants, Trump is somehow breaking the rules, over riding convention, and abrogating the natural order.
No. It’s the progressives who broke the rules. Then set those rules on fire, spat on them, and threw them out the window of a speeding car.
They pushed the Overton Window so far to the left it’s going to take quite a radical reset, an abrupt and coarse correction, to bring western culture back to something approaching their once much vaunted, ‘normalcy’.
Our progressive masters have spent the last twenty years weaponising empathy, exploiting compassion, and celebrating victimhood. But despite their outlandish rainbow coloured claims, this has not made our world fairer, its people richer, or our children happier.
In fact quite the opposite. They have succeeded only in making us poorer, more divided, angrier, colder, hungrier, more anxious, and more miserable.
And when we complained they refused to listen. They tried to shut us up, and shut us down.
First they called us thick. Then they called us racist, Nazis, transphobes, colonialists, xenophobes, gammons, and conspiracy theorists. They accused us of bigotry and claimed we were jumping on a ‘far right bandwagon’.
And when none of that worked, they started taking down our names, depriving us of our livelihoods, closing our bank accounts, taking away our jobs, and throwing us in prison.
It’s not surprising that the world is finally taking a step back from all this nonsense and saying, ‘No thanks’.
It’s just surprising it has taken us this long.
And now the leader of what we used to call, the Free World, is cleaning house.
Embarking on a whirlwind of redemptive activity. Unleashing a snowstorm of Executive Orders. All signed in front of a leashless press pack right there in the Oval Office.
Performative? Certainly. But a breath of fresh air compared to the arms length mausoleum presidency of the Biden years. When the only off the cuff question permitted was
‘Sir, what flavour ice cream are you eating? ‘
Of course now that the pendulum is swinging the other way the elites are suddenly demanding compromise. Proportionality. Reasonableness.
They simply cannot compute that someone else would behave as they have behaved. Ignore precedent. Disregard protocol. And steam roller through all opposition to get their own way.
Look. I’m no Trumpist. I’m really not. Like his critics, I’m very worried this whole weird tariff experiment could result in the same sky high inflation we saw after the lockdown idiocy, and spell disaster for the world economy, and lead to further immiseration for the poorest in our society.
Although I might be a bit more worried about the consequences of a trade war if our own government, in the form of Ed Miliband, Rachel Reeves, and Angela Rayner, wasn’t already doing its best to kill off the last of British industry, competitiveness, and jobs.
And maybe Trump should leave his northern neighbours alone.
Although it’s worth noting that many of the same people who clutch their pearls at the thought of Trump buying Greenland, are happy to watch Kier Starmer desperately trying to throw the Chagos Islands at the Chinese.
But I would say to the Democratic elites, the party apparatchiks, and the woke commissars, tough luck losers, you brought this on yourself.
If Trump really is a monster then you are the Dr Frankenstein who made him. Trump is ultimately a reaction to your own excesses. A creation of your own vanity, your own greed, your own dogmatism, your own arrogance, your own overreach, and your own contempt for the ‘little people’ who make up most of humanity.
The progressive extremism of what we imperfectly call ‘woke’ is not so much an ideology as anti-human cancer.
And it’s time to tear down, messily, unceremoniously, and mercilessly, the shibboleths of this absurd religion. Everyone single one.
No. Trump isn’t perfect. Not by a long shot. But maybe with the Orange Man in the White House we can finally begin to turn our back on the madness of the last few years. And start to rebuild what our spoiled, sneering, self indulgent elites have broken.
It’s 2025. Maybe a good time for the spoilt, tantruming children of progressivism’s imperious generation, to finally grow up.

Good interpretation of what's happened here, LSO. The left continues with the old playbook, only it's not working. I wouldn't worry too much on the tariffs. Mexico and Canada took less than 24 hours to see reason. Trump apparently did ask prior to the point of issuing tariffs for things that are, by sovereign nation standards, very reasonable - help secure the border and stop sending poison and death across it, but of course he is a "dictator". No one mentions the enormous duties Canada slaps on some US goods prior to all this, but that's a matter for another discussion. The funny part was watching Canadian retailers remove things made in the US from their shelves - as if not selling things they've already purchased will somehow teach us a lesson. I like Canadians in general, but some of the things coming out the last 48 hours have completely nixed the idea of the "nice" Canadians.
As for the US, Trump is doing precisely what he was elected to do. Cut out DEI and that crap and stop government waste on pork and corruption. He's doing a bang up job there and DOGE is following the money and identifying just how many pigs were in the trough getting rich off cosy government contracts.
It's very like what Milei did in Argentina (maybe because Milei advised him on one of his visits to the US?) and it's going to put a lot of AWFUL Karens and Margarets out of a job, which is going to be tough on their neighbors but better for the rest of the country
