This Hey Stack! seems really good so I thought I'd pinch the idea and do one for my own Substack (now that it's been running for nearly a year). But in order to do it I need to ask you some technical advice. So.....how do you generate those little "things?" about each post.....the ones with the title plus an image plus a "read more" link (I'm so Substack dumb, I can't think what the proper name is for what I'm calling "things").
Graham I can help with that. TBH I had to ask Dominic Frisby the exact same thing. I used his advice which I copy here. So hat tip to him. :’ Illustrations are already embedded in the article and they get used for the social previews. Then when you’re writing your best of article you simply paste a link to the article you want to link to. and it appears in a very large box in the Substack with the full social preview. But then in the top right hand corner of that box, there’s a smaller box with two or three horizontal lines. You click on that box, and that gives you the option to make your link, bigger or smaller’. -hope that helps. Looking forward to reading it! Best to you.
Whilst I don’t smoke (but happily own tobacco stocks) , it almost makes me want to start ... Years ago we’d holiday a lot in Belgium. There too people were allowed to consume a beverage of their choice at the indoor pool. In Australia, we aren’t even allowed a beer at the beach !!

very nice idea ; I've seen a few such things and it works quite well for Substack ; I often find that the first few sentences of my pieces are rather important as indicators of what is to come. Every time I see someone making such a collection I seem to like it. I jolly well must do one me-self.
I used to love to smoke Christian. It’s mad now. And the war against vapes is just incomprehensible to me. Don’t know if you read the Spectator but Kate Andrews wrote a funny thing about buying cigarettes for the first time in 15 years out of spite, after Sunak announced his ridiculous new laws. So you wouldn’t be alone!
