An elite theory

I recently wrote a post about the ongoing freebies scandal which is engulfing the new, but already worn out and failing, Starmer government.

The post prompted a lot of discussion, both online and off. Much of the debate centred around who was actually worse. Keir Starmer with his Taylor Swift (Yes. I’m a fan) tickets, and tens of thousands of quids worth of free clothes. Or Boris Johnson (No. I’m not a fan), and his golden wallpaper and cake.

Does a free holiday in a Marbella villa out-grift a cost free weekend in a New York Penthouse? Is a lockdown leaving party for a staffer more degenerate than a £14,000 birthday party for a shadow education secretary? It was a fun discussion to have. But ultimately nothing but a distraction.

Our political parties might have swapped seats in the big old room where they loll about deciding how best to kill off pensioners, and throw our wages at foreigners, but nothing material has actually changed.

The ruling class, the progressive elite, the Regime, the Deep State, the Blob, whatever you want to call it, is still very much in charge.

Which is why, despite what we’re constantly told, we don’t really have an economic problem, an energy problem, a crime problem, an immigration problem, or an environmental problem.

What we have, is an elite problem.

We are ruled over by a self satisfied, endlessly entitled class of people, who unfailingly put their own short term interests, and the interests of their shrill, greedy, pinch faced, overbearing tribe, above the needs of the people they are nominally meant to serve.

It’s not just politics of course. These people control everything. They squat, smug, greasy and foul, at the top of every institution, every quango, every NGO, every large charity, every regulator, and every international body.

They administer our legal system, our Supreme Court, our select committees, our police force, and what’s left of our armed forces.

They run the museums, theatres, art galleries, and publishing.

They control the media we consume, the TV we watch, and they decide which products and services we are allowed to advertise. (Hot dogs Out. Hate preachers In)

Their busy bossy tentacles extend ever wider, now slowly stifling, censoring, clogging up, and generally enshittifying, the entire internet.

These people are in charge of literally everything. And yet, they lack the basic competence to make any of it function correctly.

Full of misplaced self regard for their own meagre talents, they guard their powers jealously. Imperiously demanding we surrender ever more of our autonomy, our rights, and our freedoms to their suffocating, sclerotic, spirit sapping embrace.

In short. They are useless.

There is a counter argument. People sometimes tell me that I’m being unfair. That I’m expecting too much of our lords and masters.

Of course our governments, and the elites who control everything, often struggle to deliver, they say. Running a country, a modern economy, a nation of nearly seventy million is an insanely difficult task. Let’s cut our bosses some slack.

And that’s fair enough. Administering a nation state is a mindbogglingly complicated, and breathtakingly challenging undertaking. A lot can, and does go wrong.

Which is why our government should knuckle down, and concentrate 90% of its (our) resources, on the basics.

Ignoring all distractions, and focusing almost exclusively on its core mission. Delivering for the people, the things they actually voted for.

This should immediately make their monumentally complex task, monumentally less complex. After all, the list of things we have asked for (and been promised) over the last few election cycles has been both fairly short, and pretty consistent.

Here’s a brief summary.

We want safe streets. If not exactly crime free, then at least significantly less stabby.

We want a growing economy. To be able to both afford to buy a house, and maybe even heat that house.

We want an end to Islamic terrorist attacks.

We have paid for, and so expect, a functioning health service.

We demand an end to mass uncontrolled, illegal immigration. And want a cap on unskilled legal immigration.

(When checking the above links I noticed how often illegal immigrants are now referred to as ‘undocumented’ or ‘irregular’. Nope. They are illegal. Yet, another attempt to change our perceptions by changing our language.)

And we have asked our government, repeatedly, loudly, and insistently, to free us from the shackles of the failing, undemocratic, ossified, anti innovation, and increasingly spiteful, petulant, and vindictive political mafia machine, that is the EU.

That’s about it.

And yet instead, we have violent criminals, burglars, and sex offenders being released onto our streets by our own government. Not even by accident. But on purpose. And a two their justice system, which locks up people for Facebook posts, but lets actual pedophiles, thugs and rapists walk free.

Their progressive economic policies have resulted in the highest level of taxation since 1948. A burden which we’re told, with sad face emoji, is about to get significantly bigger, supposedly to fill an ever expanding (£20bn yesterday,£40bn today) and wholly illusionary ‘black hole’ in the nation’s finances.

We have a failed, government administered housing ‘market’ where the state controls both the supply-by setting the planning rules. And demand-by deciding on the number of people allowed into the country. (Graham’s number.)

A country where the threat of Islamic terrorism is to be considered ‘part and parcel of life in a big city’ according to Britain’s most woeful politician, Sadiq Khan.

And where our police force works hard to ensure that jihadist supporters of terrorist death gangs Hamas and Hezbollah, are free to march through our cities unmolested.

We have over seven and a half million people waiting to receive a hospital appointment from a broken, socialist Health Service, which costs us over £180 bn a year. A situation which has become so normalised, no one even bothers to mention it anymore.

And when a thousand men arrive on our shores in a single day, from countries and cultures which hold our nation and history in almost as much contempt as do our ruling class. They are ushered in. Given free food, accommodation, and in some cases, complimentary mobile phones. All at our expense.

And for the sake of time, I’ll leave it up to you to decide whether we have actually escaped the cloying clutches of the EU, or not. (Spoiler alert. Not)

On every single one of these fundamental issues, our elites have failed us.

And yet rather than make any attempt to correct their mistakes, or address their blunders, our bosses choose instead to waste their time, and our money, focussing almost exclusively on fringe issues which frankly no one but them, really cares about.

Net Zero, Online Safety, Trans Rights, and the many headed hydra of ‘Racism’.

But why do our bosses pursue these marginal issues at the expense of, what seem to the rest of us, much more pressing problems?

Do they know more than us? After all these are smart people. I’m certainly not clever enough to persuade a millionaire Lord to pay for all my holidays and clothes while giving him absolutely nothing in return. That takes real genius.

Or do they push these issues to the top of the agenda because they are especially enlightened and morally superior? Are they simply better people than you or l?

Maybe.

Or maybe it’s because that’s where the money is.

Every year billions upon billions of pounds are leeched from regular, working people and sprayed with gay abandon at the middle class elites, the crony capitalists, the unproductive public sector, the captured institutions, the charity industrial complex, and the ruling elite’s ever growing band of wonky supplicants.

A worthless strata of grievance grifters, race baiters, do gooders, professional scolds, joyless puritans, sexual misfits, and hate mongers.

The elites are making out like bandits. They create pretend problems, or vastly exaggerate genuine but manageable threats, inculcate panic and fear in the population, and then spend our money, supposedly trying to ‘fix them.’

They did it with the Cold War. The War on Drugs. The War on Terror. Covid. And of course the ever forthcoming, but never quite arriving, Climate Apocalypse.

It’s a great scam, and has been making the elites rich for decades. Feathering their nests at our expense. The problem is that recently they’ve started getting extra greedy. Demanding even more of our cash and delivering ever less in return.

It’s no wonder that populism is on the rise across the developed world.

Yet in the face of growing opposition, dissatisfaction, and disillusionment with their wonky rule, the boss class refuse to change course, or even debate, discuss or argue their case.

Of course not, their ideas, policies and ideologies are so flimsy, so paper thin, so literally idiotic and illogical that they cannot withstand the least scrutiny.

One example. How about we ‘save the planet’ with a £22bn for a carbon capture scheme that will never, can never, work? The money would be better wasted trying to invent a Time Machine so that Ed Miliband can travel to the past and uninvent the steam engine.

And so, in the face of growing opposition to their mad cap schemes and bonkers demands, the elites have opted for a different strategy.  They seek to shut down, and increasingly lock up, anyone who challenges their authority, or simply has the temerity to disagree with, or question them.

While inventing a brand new bogeyman to blame for all the world’s ills they didn’t already heap on Emmanuel Goldstein. Donald Trump,

‘Misinformation’.

To most people the words ‘misinformation’, ’disinformation’ and now, ‘malinformation’ all conjure up images of lies, falsehoods or untruths. But not a bit of it.

We learned during the COVID fiasco that it doesn’t matter if it’s true or not.  The elite’s definition of misinformation is just, 

‘Little people saying stuff we don’t like’.

That’s it.

If the progressive elites cannot persuade us by argument, so they must corral us by force. And if they cannot beat us in debate, so they must remove us from the stage.

These thin skinned authoritarians used to take pains to conceal their opposition to free expression.

But they now hold the rest of us in such contempt, that they can no longer even be bothered to do that much.

A couple of weeks ago, Munster faced former presidential candidate and now President (Jill) Biden’s Special Envoy for Climate Change, John Kerry, was complaining on stage at the elitefest that is the Forbes Sustainability Leaders Summit (I must have missed my invitation), that the

‘First Amendment stands as a major block to be able to just, you know, hammer [disinformation] out of existence

The First Amendment a block to unfettered government power?

Yes John. That’s the idea.

That’s like complaining that a prophylactic is a major block to unwanted pregnancy.

Next up, sitting haughty and proud astride her pale horse, was Hillary Clinton, who knows a thing or two about misinformation. Seeing as she invented that whole ‘Russian collusion’ nonsense, you know, back in 2016, when she was the one, loudly denying election results she didn’t like.

(Just sayin’. Please don’t suicide me Hillster)

Clinton was even more upfront.  Warning that when you allow, (allow!!) free speech you risk people like her,

‘Losing total control.’

Total control. Not just a bit of control. But all of it.

When elites like John Kerry and Hillary Clinton tell you that they want to rescind our right to free speech, the right, on which arguably all our other individual rights are based, then for once, we can take them at their word.

Though sanctimonious, high minded, and officious when seeking to shut down the vulgar speech, heterodox opinions and grubby thoughts of regular people like you and I, our self regarding, lecturing, hectoring masters are quick to prostrate themselves before the real bigots.

Ever ready to bend their knee, and our laws, culture, and customs to accommodate the extreme, misanthropic whims of racists, anti semites, islamists, TERF punching men in women’s clothing, climate catastrophisers, Malthusian fearmongers, and kiddie vivisectionists.

Of course the triggered, unhappy progressives are not only in open conflict with the people of today.

Their biggest villain is the past.

They know they cannot compete with the history’s heroes. Giants who built our great nations, enriched our people, and defended our culture, often at the cost of their own lives. So instead, these Poundshop pipsqueaks denigrate, vilify, and insult them. Dismissing yesterday’s champions as their own moral and intellectual inferiors.

Imagine the arrogance it takes to believe that you personally are the pinnacle of human achievement. That all who came before were suspect, defective samples, factory rejects, and failed human prototypes, whose only purpose was to pave the way for your own perfect form. Such levels of narcissism are genuinely breathtaking.

Our elites seem to be on a crusade. Intent on denying, degrading, and defiling, humanity’s greatest achievements one by one.

And calling it de colonisation.

Look, our world is not perfect. Of course not. It is an actual place. Full of real people. Messy, flawed and chaotic.

But the indisputable fact remains.

There has never been, in the history of humanity, a civilisation which has been richer, healthier, more technically advanced, more equal between the (two) sexes, more enlightened, more comfortable, and more tolerant.

And yet our elite class, seem determined to rip it all up, and tear it all down.

And replace our world with one, where, on every one of the above metrics, it becomes the exact opposite.

Piece by piece. Brick by brick. Value by value. Our civilisation is being slowly dismantled. On purpose.

This isn’t progress. This is suicide.
