We’re making a list. And checking it twice.

I’ve had a flurry of new subs this week. I think because my friend Dominic Frisby had a post which went viral. And since he recommends LSO I reaped the benefit. So thanks for that Dominic.
And welcome new subs. Lovely to have you. I’m sure a lot of you are here more or less by accident. But I hope you’ll stick around. Whether you do or not is up to you of course. I’m not going to waste your time trying to sell this Substack to you. Let’s just jump straight in at the deep end. With something I haven’t done for a while.
Had a good old rant.

What’s fascinating, is that for once, we actually get to see it happening in real time.
This reshaping of reality. A reframing of the narrative. The birthing of a truth.
Right there in front of our very eyes. Blatant and bold.
Like a silky spun spiderweb. A crystal in a school science experiment. Or a time lapse, as a flower blooms.
Usually this process is kept secret, hidden behind The Great Oz’s curtain. That this time it is so transparent, so open, and so obvious, reveals a fresh contempt.
We have been downgraded. From essential participants in a process, to mere bystanders at a spectacle. Unimportant and irrelevant.
Two weeks ago Kamala Harris was universally dismissed as a joke. A cackling hyena, a know nothing clown. The least liked, and least effective VP since Dan ‘Potatoe’ Quayle.
A spectacularly unpopular politician, and a dummy dumbo amidst a confederacy of dunces, polling worse even than her boss, the cadaverous Joe Biden. Remember him? He doesn’t.
A liability, an obstacle, and an embarrassment.
But not anymore. Just as Biden has been reimagined as perhaps the greatest US president since Jimmy Carter George Washington, so the Machine is swinging behind the VP.
Sweeping away the old Kamala Harris and replacing her with the new improved, upgraded, Ultra version.
Unburdened by what has been, the Vice President is reborn.
We are witnessing the ultimate Tik-Tok transition, as Harris becomes the proud brat Qween, a force of nature, an insightful thinker, a balanced centrist, a political hurricane.
Like Dr Who, (which has also become excruciating to watch) Harris has been regenerated, reinvigorated and recast, with new skills, new abilities, and an entirely new backstory. It’s extraordinary.
Yet nothing has materially changed. Kamala Harris is exactly the same person she was the day before yesterday, deeply unattractive, woefully unsuited to power, and manifestly out of her depth.
But who cares?
It’s clear they already had a ‘figurehead’ president with poor old Joe.
I expect they assume they can repeat the trick with Harris.
They are quite possibly correct.
Look, I know that even though I’m endlessly fascinated by American politics, not all of you share my obsession. And in truth we’re not here to talk about the US election. Not really.
I just thought that with the industrial levels of gaslighting going on right now regarding Biden’s hitherto unnoticed decrepitude, (too far gone to run in an election, not too far gone to run a country) and the presumptive Democratic nominee, (Harris is not now the Border Czar, nor has ever been the Border Czar), it might be an opportune moment to update the list.
You know. The list.
The list of things they lied to us about which we knew they were lying about, but which they emphatically denied they were lying about.
And when that lie could no longer be sustained, they immediately pivoted, pretending instead to be shocked, surprised and astonished that anyone had ever believed that lie.
And then lied to our faces, that they were ever lying to us in the first place.
That list.
Let’s get started with a biggie.
They lied to us about Covid. And not just a bit of it. They lied to us about all of it.
About two weeks to flatten the curve, a fortnight to squash the sombrero.
They lied when they said we could protect ourselves from a teeny tiny airborne virus by wearing a paper mask, walking backwards three times round the supermarket, leaving our parents to die alone, and watching Joe Wicks on YouTube.
They said we were all equally at risk when it was obvious the virus really only threatened the very old, the very sick. Or the not so ‘healthy at any size’ morbidly obese.
Also, they lied to us about the ‘healthy at any size’ morbidly obese.
They lied that covid would kill sun bathers on a beach, but would pass over rioters looting sneaker stores in the name of racial justice.
They lied to us about BLM, and ‘fiery, but mostly peaceful protests’.
They lied to us about closing schools, masking kids, jabbing toddlers and home learning.
They lied to us about the multi billion pound vaccines, which they assured us would prevent infection and contagion. And then they lied when we pointed out they didn’t prevent infection and contagion at all, claiming now that they had never claimed they would prevent infection and contagion. Yet they did.
They lied when they insisted they wouldn’t introduce vaccine passports. And then tried to introduce vaccine passports. And then when that didn’t work, lied about it.
They lied when they said they had no idea where the virus had come from. When they knew right from the start it had originated in the Wuhan Institute of Virology. And they knew because they are the ones who designed it, grew it and paid for it.
They lied to us about mass uncontrolled immigration. Telling us it was making us all richer when it was only making them richer, while it made us poorer.
They lied that dinghies bursting with fighting age men from Syria, Albania and Afghanistan were flood fleeing arks, ferrying refugee women and frightened children from the chaos of war.
They lied that we were personally responsible for those wars because, colonialism.
They lied about colonialism. That our great country was built on racism in its dark sinful past, and is awash with racism in its pink gammoned present. Neither of which is remotely true.
In fact the only mainstreamed racism you regularly see openly expressed on British streets, is the performative self loathing of the white bourgeois.
Tag teaming with the progressive anti semitism of the pro Hamas left.
They lied to us that these weekly carnivals of hate were somehow ‘protests’. When all these people were really protesting about, at least at the start, was that there were not as yet, nearly enough dead Jews.
They lie to us continuously about the threat from Islamic extremism. Blaming MP David Amess’ murder, (one among so many) on overly vigorous online trolling. Rather than on an extremist ideology which makes no secret of its priapic passion for our destruction.
Its first genie wish to destroy our way of life, our nation and our culture. And then with its other two wishes, to destroy us twice more.
And yet rather than strive for much needed integration or social cohesion, they instead insist on repeating ad nauseam their blank eyed, empty mantra, ‘diversity is our strength’. Another lie.
They lie to us that always, and everywhere, white people are the oppressors. While all other races (though not so much you, smarty pants Asians) are always and everywhere, the oppressed.
They claim that if religious extremism poses a threat, it is matched only by the danger and ferocity of The Far Right.
And so we should be ever on our guard against an imaginary legion of goose stepping Nazis, which even now Blitzkriegs its way across sweet civilised Europe with its jackbooted demands to, oh, lower the French pension age to 62, deport convicted foreign criminals from Germany and support Ukraine in its war against Russia. Hardly the annexation of the Sudentandland.
More lies:
Free Speech is Hate Speech.
Men, your dad, your brother, boyfriend, grandad, cousin, taxi driver, bus driver, plumber, and teacher, are all somehow ‘toxic’. And are not to be trusted.
Unless of course they are dressed as a woman and hanging (it) out in the ladies changing room at your local swimming baths. In which case they’re probably harmless. So don’t you dare complain.
They lied to us about ‘trans kids’.
That the best way to deal with the tragic social contagion of body dysmorphia among disturbed, troubled, and vulnerable children is to chop bits off them in the name of inclusion and kindness.
And then clap like seals as creepy men in baby doll nighties twerk in their faces.
That drag, (which certainly has its place in late night, adult cabaret) ‘celebrates‘ inclusion, rather than ridicules and caricatures women. This, like its supposed suitability as a form of primary school entertainment, is just another lie.
And the list goes on.
They lied to us about Brexit. No, not the ‘lie on the side of a bus’.
We did go on to spend more than £350m extra a week on the NHS post Brexit after all. Although for some reason, I’m told that doesn’t count.
No the biggest lie about the Brexit Referendum was that they would implement the result. Rather than spend three years attempting to nullify the vote and ignore the democratic instruction of 17.4 million Britons.
And now our double facing Prime Minister claims he will not take us back into the EU. Even as he plots to do just that, albeit by the back door.
They lied to us about the NHS. Claiming it is the envy of the entire world rather than a dysfunctional top down mess that if it is a world leader in anything, it is in wasting money, and failing cancer patients.
That the only other possible alternative is an ‘American style system’ where they ‘demand you hand over your credit card before they let you in the ambulance’, is of course, as any German or Frenchie will tell you, just another lie.
They lie to us about crime. They lie to us about the causes of crime.
They constantly lie, assuring us that by spending all our money, government can solve all our problems.
They lied to us about the Horizon IT scandal. Trying to convince us that our local Post Office is home to more crooks, swindlers and con artists than The Soprano’s Bada Bing!
They lied to us about smart meters, and they lied to us about electric cars.
They lied to us that Hunter Biden’s laptop, was nothing more than ‘Russian Disinfo’.
And then the world’s most powerful internet companies in collusion with the world’s biggest media, compounded that lie, scrubbing the laptop from the public record, lest it influence an election.
So yes, this was election interference. But of course the lie is, it’s only interference, when Trump does it.
They lied to us about a Twitter conspiracy to steal our Free Speech. They lied to us about their Net Zero plan to steal our future. And they lied about tax rises to steal our money.
They lie to us that they are only lying to us, for our own good.
They lied to us about ‘transitory’ inflation. As if numbers had stopped working, and because of a pandemic, that maths was no longer ‘a thing’.
And they lied that maths, like jerk rice, and turning up on time, was racist now.
They lied that ‘ultra processed food’ is going to kill us all.
No it isn’t. It’s just food. Just the sort Guardian readers pretend not to eat.
They lied to us about the seas boiling, the world turning to fire and the Climate Crisis/Emergency/Apocalypse.
They lied to us, when from the privileged perspective of their private jets, they assured us they could fix the weather in fifty years time, by making driving your mum down the shops more expensive today.
That our grandchildren’s salvation lies in Chinese windmills, and being poor.
They lied that wind turbines are supremely safe. While nuclear power is unfathomably dangerous.
They lied about Jeffrey Epstein. That Titan submarine, and that too much vaping could cause an epidemic of ‘popcorn lung’.
They lied about the fires on Hawaii. And making us eat bugs.
They lie when they assure us they have none of our money left to spend building prisons, because they spent all our money paying doctors. When they spent so much elsewhere, on things we neither want nor need.
And for the historians among us, they lied to us about Saddam Hussein’s imaginary weapons of mass destruction, about BSE, lead in petrol, the Vietnam War and the Common Market.
They were lying to us then. They are lying to us now. About everything.
All. The. Time.
And pretty much all we can do about it. Is keep updating the list.

I think that piece should be carved into one of the Stonehenge monoliths, so that it can be read in two thousand years time when, whatever is left of us, researches the collapse of civilisation in the 21st century.
They have always lied. From the first priest who convinced his followers to sacrifice their best goat to make the rains come, they have lied to us.
When the rains came, the priest was praised and showered with gifts. When the rains didn't come, it was because the goat wasn't good enough, or you resented giving up your best goat.
Either way, the priest got rich and fat.
They lied to us when they said that the earth was the centre of the universe, and threatened Galileo for saying it.
When Semmelweiss told doctors it might be a good idea to wash their hands between dissecting corpses and delivering babies, they forced him into a lunatic asylum.
When Snow took the handle of the street water pump and cholera spread stopped, the authorities put it back on.
When Ancel Keys cherry picked a sugar industry funded observational study to "prove" eating saturated fat, we demonised the only healthy fat to cook with for decades, and created a multi-billion dollar statin industry on the back of a lie.
LSO, there are countless examples in the past where the lie has been broadcast, and all you have to do is follow the dogma to the money to identify the reason for it. All that has changed is that the gullible (a worryingly consistent 90% plus) can now be force fed a constant stream of lies worldwide.
